Text Box: The McCone County consists of three watersheds. Redwater River, Prairie Elk-Wolf and Fort Peck Reservoir. 
The Redwater Watershed covers McCone, Dawson and Richland very northern part of Prairie County. 
Text Box: McCone County has several creeks listed on the DEQ 303 (d) list. The Redwater River, Horse Creek, Pasture Creek and East Redwater are all in the Redwater River Watershed. Prairie Elk and Sand Creek are in the Prairie-Elk –Wolf Watershed, and Timber Creek and Nelson Creek are in the Fort Peck Reservoir Watershed. According to the 303 (d) list all these streams are in need of a TMDL and Restoration Plan by December 2007. 
DEQ has hired Garcia and Associates to put a TMDL and Restoration Plan together for the Redwater TMDL Planning Area. McCone Conservation District continue to work with DEQ and to comment on the TMDL plan. When a final plan has been drafted the public will have the opportunity to comment on the plan as well.
Below is a list of the streams in McCone County on the 303(d) list.
